"Many Photos" - Arsenal CONFIRM club record £72m transfer for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe on five-year deal

ARSENAL have confirmed the club record signing of Nicolas Pepe for £72million.

Pepe has signed a five-year-deal at the Emirates and takes over from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the most expensive player in the club’s history.

The Gunners beat off competition from Napoli to land the Lille winger in a deal which will see them spread the payments over the full term of his contract.

The 24-year-old Ivory Coast star will now link straight up with Unai Emery’s squad and could make his first appearance in the prestige friendly against Barcelona on Sunday.

Arsenal’s capture of Pepe was something of a shock during a summer which has seen them battle against budgetary restraints limiting the players Emery could sign.

The Gunners had first tried to prise Wilfried Zaha away from Crystal Palace to provide the extra attacking edge the manager was after,

But their initial bid of £40m was laughed away by Palace who were demanding double that – a figure Arsenal just could not go to.

And Pepe, who had been tracked by a series of top clubs across Europe, appeared destined for a move to Serie A when Napoli reached an agreement with Lille for his services.

The Italians believed they had got the deal done – only for Arsenal’s Head of Recruitment Raul Sanllehi to steal in under the radar and match the bid.

Crucially he was able to structure a deal which will see the London club meet the asking price over five annual instalments, which allows him to fit within the financial constraints in place at the Emirates.

It leaves the Gunners with a fearsome looking attacking united of Pepe, Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as Emery puts together a trio who will strike fear across Premier League defences.

Arsenal fans are so enthusiastic about the prospect of the three linking up they have voted their front three better than the group at Liverpool – which sees Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino link up.

"Many Photos" - Huge scaffolding collapse at building site injures at least two

Three people have been injured and more are feared buried beneath rubble after scaffolding collapsed in Reading today.

A building site worker at the former Friars Walk Shopping Centre sustained a head injury, and a male and female who were passing by at the time of the collapse, at Greyfriars Road at about 11.15am, were also hurt following the incident.

The man suffered chest pains and shock, and the woman sustained an ankle injury, but more are feared hurt as emergency services continue to scour the rubble following reports that one or two people may be 'buried by the collapsed structure'.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said they received multiple 999 calls saying scaffolding had collapsed from the front of Greyfriars House.

The SCAS spokesman told MailOnline: 'Our staff are currently assessing two patients – one with chest pains and one with a head injury – and the Fire Service are using their thermal imaging equipment to search the collapsed scaffolding.'

The spokesman also said: 'We currently have a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance at the scene and our Hazardous Area Response Team are en route along with a further two ambulances.'

The three injured people were taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

One witness said there was 'lots of shouting and running away after a sudden crash' after the incident, which took place around the Station Hill demolition site.

A 53-year-old bystander at the scene, who asked not to be named, said: 'I was walking down Greyfriars Street to the office opposite the site, when I heard this very loud crash.

'I thought it was just demolition work as they had been doing that for a while there, so I paid no attention. It was only when I turned around I saw a woman who saw what was happening and she was running away.

'I saw this big cloud of dust coming towards me so I ran back to help the woman who looked badly injured. I went to check she was okay and although she was very shaken. she was still talking fine.

'Then I did what I thought was best which was to give first aid where I could until the emergency services arrived.'

An Immigration Enforcement van was pictured at the scene of the collapse.

The Home Office have been contacted for comment.

The centre of Reading was sealed off by police as a major incident sprang into action amid fears for the safety of dozens of construction site workers.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said that two people had been treated at the scene for minor injuries and that a Health and Safety investigation was expected to be launched as part of a joint investigation with the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescuer Service.

A fire chief at the scene confirmed than an internal floor had collapsed as well as the scaffolding. He said it was not certain that no-one remained trapped under the mountain of tons of scaffolding and debris so a specialist urban rescue team had been called in.

Fire brigade incident commander Tony Heselton said at the scene of the collapse: 'We have halted rescue operations at this time because the scaffolding framework is still too unsafe for us to move.

South Central Ambulance service said they were treating two patients for 'non-life-threatening injuries'

'We are unsure if there are any further casualties under the scaffolding at the moment but there has been no noise from under the scene and there probably is not anyone underneath but we are trying to make absolutely sure.

'A thermal image camera is in use at the moment. However the scaffolding framework and surrounding debris is also hot, so the thermal camera is actually being over-ridden at this time.

'The incident consists of a scaffolding collapse as well as an internal floor down. We are in the process of making the scaffolding safe to access so we can further prove there are no other casualties.

'The Urban Search and Rescue team has been requested but they are travelling from Luton so when they will arrive is uncertain.'

Natalia Figuerido, aged 61 years, who was at the scene said: 'I passed by the building a couple hours ago, going to the office when my son called me asking if I was hurt. He then said 'you don't know what happened, do you' and told me a building had collapsed.

'I didn't see the actual collapse but I went to look because my house is really close to where it collapsed.'

A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) spokesman said: 'We are aware of an incident and are making initial inquiries.'

Thames Valley Police Reading had tweeted: 'We are currently at the scene of a scaffold collapse in Garrards Street, Reading.

'Garrards Street is closed in both directions. Greyfriars Road is also congested. Please avoid the area if possible.

'Two people are being treated for injuries on the scene.'

Police closed the NCP car park white fire and ambulance service crews continue to work in the area.

There are 'no concerns as to the structure of the car park, but members of the public will not be able to access their vehicles until further notice', police said.

A spokesperson for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: 'We are currently responding to an incident involving a collapsed structure on Garrard Street, Reading.

'Five RBFRS crews are currently on scene. Garrard Street is currently closed while this incident is ongoing, so please avoid the area if possible.'

"Many Photos" - Blink 182’s Travis Barker ‘disgusted’ as he slams Echosmith star for sending ‘super creepy’ messages to his 13-year-old daughter

BLINK 182 drummer Travis Barker is “disgusted” after Echosmith star Graham Sierota, 20, allegedly sent “super creepy” messages to his 13-year-old daughter.

An upset Travis told The Blast “there’s nothing cool, normal or OK about it at all”.

His daughter, Alabama, showed her protective dad Instagram messages purportedly from the American indie pop band drummer.

Graham allegedly first messaged her several years ago – when she was 10 years old – saying, “I’m Graham from echosmith and I think ur beautiful.”

Then, last month, he apparently tried to reach out to the girl again, inviting her to a barbecue he was hosting at his house.

Alabama posted the story, showing screenshots of the messages accompanied by a caption saying: “Hey guys! So once again I am bringing this to your attention because I’m a 13 year old girl and he is 21/20 super creepy.”

Alabama alleged that Graham from Echosmith had messaged her via Instagram

On July 21, the teen responded, pointing out: “Ur like 40”.

Graham is alleged to have replied soon afterwards, writing: “I just wanted to say i really like your music and sorry for messaging and I’m 20.”

Alabama then said: “Ok but u understand I’m a child?”

A fuming Travis told The Blast: “When I found out a 20-year-old man was trying to get in touch with my 13-year-old daughter by filling her Instagram messages with party invites and compliments I was disgusted.

“That’s predatory behaviour and there is nothing cool, normal or OK about it at all.”

APOLOGY

Graham said in response that he had not realised Alabama was a child, and said that he had unwittingly made a “careless mistake”.

In a statement to Just Jared, he added: “I had invited Alabama to my parents’ big family BBQ along with many other people, and it wasn’t until she responded that I realised her age, at which point I apologised to her.

“I’m really sorry and feel very badly about this.

“I didn’t realise she was a minor and assumed she was my age. I made a careless mistake and this is a big lesson for me.

“I would like to apologise again to Alabama, her dad Travis and her family.”

"Many Photos" - Selfie that proved I wasn't a rapist: Israeli freed after Brit's gang rape claim tells of ordeal

This is the selfie which helped prove the innocence of one of the 12 Israeli men accused of gang raping a British woman in Cyprus.

The image showing Yona Golub in bed with his girlfriend helped to untangle his accuser's tissue of lies because it was taken at the same time she told police she was attacked.

The relieved 18-year-old says the photo is the only reason he is back home in Israel and not banged up in a Cypriot jail facing a long sentence.

The case against Yona was dropped immediately when he gave police this selfie (above) his girlfriend took while she was in bed with him on June 17, the morning of the alleged gang rape

Speaking fully for the first time since he was freed, Yona told how he was dragged out of bed by police as officers stormed his hotel.

'The police banged on the door, they woke me up. The officers came rushing in. They pulled me from my bed and said 'You're being arrested on suspicion of rape'. I didn't know what they were talking about.

'They made me get dressed, hand cuffed me and took me to the station. I was so confused. I had no idea what was going on. My girlfriend was terrified.'

Yona, who has returned home to the small city of Afula in northern Israel, went on: 'I wasn't even in the room and I've never met the woman in my life.

'I was with my Israeli girlfriend at the time but the police still connected me to it.

'When they came to arrest my friends they thought I was with this woman too.

'Apparently when she was shown my picture she said that I was there as well.

'It was all lies. It had nothing to do with me.

The police just believed that she was saying. But you saw that in the end she admitted she lied but it hasn't worked out so well for her.'

The British teenager, who MailOnline is not naming, is now facing a year in prison and a £1,000 fine after she was accused of making the whole thing up.

Yona was arrested and put in custody in Cyprus for 12 days as police investigated the claims against him

Yona (above) was able to prove he hadn't been with his accuser by using the selfie with his girlfriend

Yona (pictured) told of the moment police officers in Cyprus banged on his hotel room door and burst in to arrest him on suspicion of rape in front of his terrified girlfriend. They accused him of being a rapist after the woman said 12 men held her down and attacked her at the hotel

After the rape case against the 12 Israelis collapsed the woman (in pink with a minder) from the north of England changed her story and was charged with public mischief - or wasting police time. She appeared in court in Cyprus this week and was remanded in custody until August 7

She said the dozen Israelis, aged from 15 to 18, raped her in the room of the budget Pambos Napa Rocks Hotel on July 17 after a night of partying.

She had been in Ayia Napa for several weeks after flying to the resort from her home in the north of England where she lives with her mother and stepfather to find work in one of the nightclubs.

She had been living in one room at the hotel with several other British girls who were also working there.

It is believed the woman had had a holiday fling with one of the suspects before the allegations were made.

On the night she said she said she was gang-raped the woman is believed to have consented to sex with two other men at the hotel.

But the sex is said to have been filmed when other friends burst into the room leaving the woman distressed.

She told police that up to a dozen men had held her down before taking it in turns to sexually assault her.

The footage of her having sex with the men was then widely circulated via WhatsApp and online leaving her humiliated.

Five of the 12 were released after DNA testing and the remaining seven were freed after the woman 'changed her story'.

During questioning she withdrew her previous statement, saying there had been sexual contact with the suspects but she wasn't raped.

Local news agencies reported that the teenager told investigators she filed a rape report because she was 'angry and insulted' that a number of the Israelis allegedly recorded a video of her having sex with some of them.

On the back of her new evidence, the woman was arrested on suspicion of making a false allegation and appeared in court in Paralimni, near Ayia Napa where she was remanded in custody.

Her lawyer argued that she had been the victim of 'revenge porn'.

Andreas Pittadjis said the explicit video had been 'seen by the world'. He insisted the act of circulating the material was a far more serious offence than the charge faces.

But Yona dismissed the claims and said his life has been made a misery through his accuser's 'malicious and vindictive lies'.

He has been sacked from his job working in a restaurant and says his family have had insults shouted at them in the streets near their home.

Confirming that he plans to sue his accuser for damages, Yona said: 'People here don't understand what happened and curse my family.

'They don't understand that this girl said these things for no reason.

'My life has been made really difficult. I was fired from where I work because of this.

'My bosses recognised me from the news stories in Cyprus and told me 'don't come to work anymore.'

'I tried to explain the truth to them but they didn't listen.

'These claims, while false, unfortunately stick because Afula is a small city where everyone knows everyone.

'I walk in the street and people yell 'rapist.' They come to my mother and say 'your son is a rapist', to my little sister and say 'your brother is a rapist'.

'I've been humiliated because people know me and they think I raped her and this isn't a small story that just a few people know about. The whole world knows about it.

'I can't sleep and I'm having nightmares because I think about it all the time,' he added.
